Who are we?
We are The Profanity Embroidery Group, Whitstable, Kent, a group of 25 creatives who share a love of textiles and the odd bit of profanity.
Most people, if they are honest, feel better for a quick expletive when the occasion demands. We meet once a fortnight at the Duke of Cumberland pub in Whitstable, Kent. As well as the collective work, we all produce individual stitched pieces and exhibit.
We working together on projects. Currently we are making bunting on the topic of Gin for the Twelve Taps Pub and large banner for the Duke of Cumberland Pub, both in Whitstable. The Secrets Quilt is a new project taking things to a wider audience.
Interpretation of poems by Leah Thorn on a series of vintage clothing. Older Women Rock programme, Space 7 Gallery, Folkestone and catwalk show, Sidney Cooper Gallery, Canterbury, April 2017
